Thanks for visiting mikebrannen.com. This website reveals more of who I am, what I am interested in, and what I do for a living.

Mike Portrait 1I am currently an executive TV producer, and I pride myself on delivering a product that gets viewers’ attention and turns them into repeat viewers. I work at KWGN-TV (Channel 2) in Denver, CO and I oversee all aspects of the 4:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. newscasts. It is a pleasure working with award-winning anchors, reporters, producers, photographers, managers, and editors.

Before coming to Colorado, I spent a little over two years as the morning executive producer for KOB-TV in Albuquerque, NM. During my tenure, I led the newscast from second place in the ratings, to several months fighting for and winning #1. Hubbard Broadcasting Inc. promoted me to that position after working at their flagship station, KSTP-TV in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Before leaving that ABC affiliate in Minnesota, I primarily produced the 9:00 p.m. newscast for our sister station, KSTC-45. Over a period of a year, I was responsible for doubling the ratings for that newscast. Previous to overseeing that newscast, I produced the 5 a.m. newscast for KSTP, and led it to a #1 rating in Dec. 2012 and Feb. 2013. In my final year at the station, I was also producing and booking guests for our weekly political broadcast “At Issue with Tom Hauser.”

I was a morning newscast producer at KIRO7 (the CBS affiliate in Seattle) before moving to Minnesota. While there, I led the 4:30 a.m. newscast to a #1 market share in the entire U.S. (Feb. 2012). The newscast was also #1 in the market for six-straight months.

I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism. As a student I worked a variety of jobs for KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO. I was a newscast and sportscast producer, news and sports reporter, news and sports photographer, and ENG operator.
