Thanks for visiting mikebrannen.com. This website continues to develop, revealing more of who I am, what I am interested in, and what I do for a living.

While I am currently a newscast producer, I am seeking a position as an executive producer. I’ve always had aspirations of becoming a news manager. I feel it is time to make that transition after gaining years of experience as a newscast producer.
I pride myself on delivering a product that gets viewers’ attention and turns them into repeat viewers. I currently work at KSTP-TV, the ABC affiliate in Minneapolis-St. Paul. I primarily produce the 9:00 p.m. newscast for our sister station, KSTC-45. Since I took over that show in October, our ratings continue to improve year-over-year. Our July ratings this year were double what they were for July 2013. Before I was assigned to evenings, I produced the 5 a.m. newscast for KSTP, and led it to a #1 rating in Dec. 2012 and Feb. 2013. I also produce our weekly political broadcast “At Issue with Tom Hauser.” I enjoy digging deeper into public affairs topics and booking political guests.
I was a morning newscast producer at KIRO7 (the CBS affiliate in Seattle) before moving to Minnesota. While there, I led the 4:30 a.m. newscast to a #1 market share in the entire U.S. (Feb. 2012). The newscast was also #1 in the market for six straight months.
I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism. As a student I worked a variety of jobs for KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO. I was a newscast and sportscast producer, news and sports reporter, news and sports photographer, and ENG operator.
You can see my work from all three stations on this website.
Outside of my career, I am also the President of the University of Missouri Twin Cities alumni chapter. I am a proud graduate of the school and love all things Mizzou. I am responsible for the chapter’s website, too. Feel free to visit that site as well.
Thanks again for stopping by,
